Author Carol de Giere explored the amazing creativity that goes into making Broadway musicals. Her book Defying Gravity: The Creative Career of Stephen Schwartz, from Godspell to Wicked, focuses on the artistry of the Connecticut composer responsible for scores for some of the biggest hits, as well as several movie musicals, and some expensive flops.
During her presentation at the library, she will share stories and recorded excerpts of music.
After meeting Stephen Schwartz by way of his website, Carol de Giere began writing the authorized career biography of this award-winning songwriter.
